Dansco Coin Albums have been a longtime companion for both expert numismatists and beginning coin collectors. The Jefferson Nickels 1938 to 2005 Dansco Album comes in a 7/8" binder and holds up to 175 coins. The album has 5 Dansco pages (series: 8113-1 to 8113-2, 7113-1 to 7113-5), each one holding and displaying all Jefferson nickels minted from 1938 to 2005. The 1938 Jefferson nickel was originally designed by Felix Sclag. The beloved Jefferson nickel coin had Sclag's designed until 2004, when the "Westward Journey" Nickels came to life. Each year, from 2004-2006, new obverse and reverse designs for the Jefferson nickels were minted. During World War II, 1942-1945, the composition of the Jefferson nickel changed. No nickel was used to make the Jefferson coins during this period. Those nickels were made of 56% copper, 35% silver and 9% manganese, each weighing 1.59 grams. Jefferson nickels now and before the wartime period are made of 75% copper and 25% nickel, each weighing 5 grams. All Jefferson nickels are 21.2 mm in diameter. Dansco Coin Albums have their pages attached with metal screws, making it easy to add and replace.
12-13-11 Dansco is now shipping 8113 albums with a final page that ends in 2005. The new nickel album that starts in 2006 is unavailable with no ETA. Moreover, the old pages ending in 2011 are no longer available. We are checking our stock and will update more information as it comes available.
