Testing Acids
for determining platinum
contents
To successfully complete the steps to determine platinum
contents, it is necessary to have:
Platinum testing acids
Testing stones
First step: The testing stone to use has
to be thoroughly cleaned with
test acid neutralizers. Using water to wash the testing stones is not
as accurate.
Second step: Scratch firmly, but gently,
the platinum piece on the
testing stone and then apply over the rubbed area the platinum acid
solution.
Reading the results: If the object tested
is platinum, the
mark left by the scratch on the test stone should keep a white bright
color.
